A battle for inclusivity
The Very Beginning.
Vazi Couture is founded originally as (Modish Republik) by two Moi University BA. LMC students; Wycliff Peter Oundo & Abdul Razaaq Daudi – one a nerd and the other a creative – as a campus fashion community. They aimed to challenge the university’s only high fashion club; The Campus Vogue – to be inclusive to everyone interested in fashion arts. A goal they achieved in one semester and became the biggest – inclusive on-campus, fashion community; with 250 members at its peak.

'Trials and errors'.
Venturing as Vazi Couture, Wycliff and his cronies dive into Eldoret’s pop culture. They try everything from talent management to collaborations with theatrical acts to hosting pageants. Eventually, having worked with hundreds of creatives, Wycliff discovers their perspectives around African creative arts are a mere mirror of the Western creative industry and that most solutions for creatives would never work in Africa – unless they were daring enough to adapt them to our African problems.

Taking it National.
Having tried their luck in the ‘City of Champions’ (Eldoret) Wycliff pivoted to Nairobi, feeling it was time to take the brand national. He got to looking for the best directors to build on the brand’s mission to elevate consciousness around the African creative industry starting with the fashion industry.
